Thank you for your support. The book, Life on a Pork Chop, has been a passion project of mine for many years, and your contribution means more than you know. It tells me that you like the idea. That's a big deal. For a while I wasn't sure, but now I am.
As with most things, Life on a Pork Chop began as a fledgling idea that has grown and evolved. As I've talked about it to friends, family, and strangers, they've all said the same thing: write this book, people will read it. Yet, there had always been that shy part of me that wasn't sure. It's just little-old Grand Island. It's not well known. And I'm certainly no famous author. I'm just someone who lived here for a while, and then moved away.
But then again, with distance comes clarity. This is something I talk about in the book's introduction. The specialness of Grand Island is something a person understands better after they've grown and gone. It comes slowly, in retrospect. It comes while you're telling your growing-up stories, and yours are so much damn cooler than everyone else's. That's when you start to realize. Gosh, it really was a grand place to live.
As appreciation for the support, contributors will be given credit in the printed book. Oh, and if you've got a story about your life on Grand Island that should be written, please contact me.
